Shimkus, you are a moron

A while back I decided to ease off on political statements on my blog. People who go on and on about politics tend to look like real jerkoffs no matter what political affiliation they tend towards. A person's political extremity is directly proportional to how large of a douchebag they are.
However, sometimes politicians say things that are so mind numbingly stupid that I just can't let it go. These past few weeks are one prime example of political bullshit of epic proportions.
John Shimkus is, of course, a Republican, and made the following statement regarding man made global warming and the EPA ruling that CO2 is dangerous:
"Does EPA propose we stop breathing?"
...
So I know this will reach all of five people, but I feel I need to vent somewhere, and I refuse to spread anything political on Facebook or anything like that and be a total hypocrite, so I'll put it here where it's on my dime:
...
Shimkus, you fucking imbecile, this has to do with the carbon cycle. Breathing is part of the normal cycle. Digging up multiple trillions of tons fossilized carbon is not part of the normal cycle, you dumb disingenuous tool.
...
Naturally, some of the real bottom scrapers of the conservative movement (like Sarah Palin) think this is a great, catchy little statement. A hell of a lot of them are all up in arms over 'climategate', which is even less meaningful to Global Warming science than the Piltdown Man hoax was to Evolutionary Theory.
With all of this bullshit the Republican party sure looks like the anti-science party lately. Not that this is a new trend for them, but it's got no hope of being fixed with the current crop of science illiterate buffoons that have been elected.
I suppose I'll get some random spambots and angry responses to this; should be fun!

I lol at your face book!
I lol at your face book!
There is also that dude from Florida that was saying a bunch of nonsensical bs a few months ago. I think he was a democrat tho. but like you said political douchbaggery is measured by how far left or right you are. that's why i like the middle. i can piss on both sides. ^_^
Alan Grayson
Yeah, I read a bit about that. I think Grayson got into some trouble over called the GOP 'Knuckle dragging neanderthals' and accusing Republicans of wanting old people to just die quickly as their answer to health care reform.
The same sort of retardery comes from everywhere though, I mean look at that shithead Republican congressman Joe Wilson who yelled "you lie" at the president. Bush never even got that kind of treatment, and he's about as deserving of that sort of heckling as any politician we've ever had the misfortune of electing.
I find I tend to vote liberal, but I've voted for some Republicans now and then. Right now it looks like the conservative side of things is more infested with lying idiots than the liberal side, but maybe that'll change one day. Who knows.
Anyway, that's about enough politics for me. If I go on about all of the idiots in charge for too long blood will start shooting out of my nose.
Jim Shimkus
He actually came to my workplace a few months ago. They held a conference here about the "green" bill that was being debated, and, while some things they said made sense (we listened in on some of it), a lot was just confusing. I don't know what to believe. Is the Earth really heating up? Is it natural or not? Regardless, I believe that human beings can live in a healthier, more resource-conservative fashion. I do my part by turning things off, recycling, and trying to be responsible in general. I just don't know who to believe, and like kkalopp, I am right in the center. I guess I could call myself Libertarian? Democrat "morals" and some Republican business views. Sigh. I hate politics. People, as you said, always seem to go to such extremes. If you aren't way right or way left, you get left out. Like me. Lose-Lose in every election.
Spot on
I think you are right on. The kinds of things you hear coming out of the mouths of these politician types boggles the mind some days. And these are the folks who are in charge! It's fine to have a passion for your job, but to go on spouting bullshit when you are supposed to be providing leadership is a whole different ballgame.
No wonder the world is in the messed up state it is.
Here comes the misanthrope
Lest we forget, politicians really aren't in the business of making sense. They're job is to say whatever crazy shit appeals to the majority of the pea-brained sheeple that elected them such that they can stay in their comfy offices making absurd amounts of money while maintaining the facade that they're all actually doing things in "the people's" best interest. Most of these people come from a law background, which means they speak bullshit fluently as a second language (possibly first for some). Still more reprehensibly ignorant are the people that come from "political families" that are basically born into a steaming pile of moral effluvia and grow roots in the filth.
Sometimes I look at the people making the decisions in this country and wonder how I still have a job.
It's almost like most
It's almost like most Republicans spell WMD as WTF, making everyone's head explode from the stupidity. Unfortunately, it's nothing new.
Some years ago a Cleveland Republican was hopping on the bandwagon decrying the lack of morals in popular media and pulled out the brilliant comment that TV should turn away from sex and violence and do something wholesome, like Shakespeare. Clearly a guy who had never once seen or read one of Willy the Shake's plays.
Shakespeare
"Get thee to a nunnery" is one of my favorite lines once I learned that in Shakespeare's day "nunnery" was slang for a Whore House ^__^
Late to the party...But I
Late to the party...But I just wanted to say, I am totally stealing your "climategate is to global warming science what the Piltdown Hoax was to Evolutionary Theory" line. Best summing-up I've seen yet.
thanks!
Glad you like it; it was actually the first thing it reminded me of. After reading even more in depth, it's not even that serious.
